Nashik is well known and famous for a legendary association with Lord Rama. It was with this background in mind that the founder named the campus Rambhoomi and the students are called "Ramdandees"- followers of Lord Rama. The School campus of nearly 160 acres has natural beauty and inspiring environment. The climate is salubrious, healthy and bracing throughout the year. It is surrounded on all sides by azure hilly landscape.

Foreseeing the future of Indian youth and indispensability of Military Training to them DrMoonje formed the central Hindu Military Education Society, which gave birth to 'the Bhonsala Military School with 90 students on roll.
On 1st September 1938 the maharaja of Gwalior state H.H ShermanJijavirao scandal inaugurated the main building of the school (presently being used as a hostel) In his inaugural speech H.H said " It is not a mere coincidence that within a short period of the opening of a first rate public school in India ( referring to Doon School , Dehradun) we are here today to open a first rate military school ". With the influence and ear nest efforts of DrMoonje the foundation stone of the present main building of the school was laid by the then governor of Bombay state sir Roger Lumley.
Over the years the school has established itself as residential school catering for the educational needs of students from all over India focused on Military education. In 1995 the school was granted affiliation by the Indian Public School Conference an association of heads of leading Public schools of the country as its member school .Consequently over the years the girls military school also started in the year 2012 as a residential school and finally the school is identified as a separate academic girls school from 2014.
Dr B.S. Moonje a renowned personality and a man of versatile characteristics born on 12th Dec 1872 at Bilaspur (Madhya Pradesh) spent his early life and did his schooling at Bilaspur and Raipur. Further, he studied medicine from 'Grant Medical College, Mumbai and attained a doctorate degree in Medicine.
Though Doctor by profession, he was well versed in the Shastra and active participant in politics was he was an active member of the society widely known as "Dharmveer". He participated in the Boer War (Africa) in 1899, actively contributed in various movements like 'Simon Commission".' Budget provision for defense ', ' Social Reforms'.
Dr Moonje deeply inspired with a touch of Motherland and acknowledged the need of its awakening among youth led towards the establishment of 'Central Hindu Military Education Society' at Nashik in 1935. The society is a torchbearer of Dr Moonje's aim of Indianization of Army (Indian Defense) through directing our youth towards Armed forces and civil services.
